Beijing is a well-known tourist city in the world. Its colorful customs -- the Old Cultural Street of the Imperial college and the Baiyun Taoist Temple Fair are important places for activities in traditional styles. The caterings of Beijing -- the Roast Duck of Quanjude, the mutton hot pot of Donglaishun are also unique. In Beijing, people can enjoy various cuisines from all over the country, such as Sichuan cuisine, Guangdong cuisine, Shandong cuisine, and Shanghai cuisine, etc. 

As the center of the country, Beijing boasts remarkable advantages. Here gathers the offices of the Party, the Government and the Military, as well as headquarters of national companies, industrial associations and financial institutions. As a place for handling the country's international, domestic and social affairs of the county, Beijing produces lots of information everyday. Beijing is in the central place of the nation's financial decisions and macro-control. It is also China's most prosperous city in terms of science, education and culture, in that it covers all subjects of sciences and has strong research capabilities. Beijing is the communication pivot between China and the international community and, the most important center for international exchanges. Beijing exerts great impact on both china and the world as a whole.

Lying on the north tip of the North China Plain, Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China. 43.5 meters above sea level, Beijing covers an area of 16,808 square kilometers and has a population of 12 million. Under the city's jurisdiction there are 10 districts and 8 counties, among which Dongcheng District, Xicheng District, Chongwen District and Xuanwu District within the Second Ring Road are the inner city in the traditional sense. 

Beijing's history as a city can be dated back to 3,000 years ago. In the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476BC) and the Warring States Period (770-221BC), the Kingdom of Yan set up its capital here, and named it Ji. Beijing was an important city in the Qin Dynasty (221-206BC), the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD) and the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280). The other name of Beijing is Yanjing, because Wang Mang set up Dayan Kingdom at the end of the Western Han Dynasty (206BC-8AD). Beijing was the alternate capital of the Liao Kingdom in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), and the official capital of the Jin Kingdom (1115-1234). From then on, the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) with 34 emperors all designated Beijing as their capital. 

Beijing is a world famous historical and cultural city as well as an old oriental capital. Its time-honored history left Beijing plenty of historical relics and colorful customs. The Great Wall and the Forbidden City show the wisdom and talent of the Chinese people in ancient times. The beautiful scenes and the wonderful architectures of the Summer Palace, the Beihai Park, the Fragrant Hill and the Heaven Temple make visitors on the scoop. 

6．工作负担 一位老师说：“我们必须6时到校，22时以后离校。每天工作时间很长，压力也很大。什么时候给我们减减负呀？”节假日 双休日、节假日和寒暑假不是给学生补课、自己进修，就是被各类活动所充满，得不到真正的休息。

7．身体状况 教师没有足够的体育锻炼时间，工作琐碎繁忙，经常得不到很好的休息，还承受着很大的工作压力，体质明显下降。因此，教师的身体健康问题不容乐观。

8．心理健康 升学、工作、家庭、子女……多重压力之下，教师的心理也受到上述多方面的压抑，不堪重负，一些教师出现“畸型心理”，或者存在心理疾患。

人格尊严 教师被打骂事件时有发生，但往往是不了了之，教师人格尊严受到损害。

9．职称评定 不教外语的我们，何时能够和职称外语考试说再见？职称评定一般主要是按年龄排队，年龄到了，职称评定自然也有了着落。职评考试怪就怪在：别的什么都不考，只考外语和计算机。

10．下岗 招生大战早已经开始了，生源紧张，教师相对富余了，教师离下岗还有多久？

学生心理健康 中小学教育正处在由应试教育向素质教育过渡这一关键的转型时期。但在转型的过程中却出现了一系列问题,尤其是中学生的心理健康教育存在着明显的缺陷。

1．职业感受 教师自己要正确认识“教师”这个词语和教师这个职业。不要无限夸大，也不要因为挣得少而自我贬低。社会对教育的理解程度要加强。

2．子女教育 教出无数的优秀生，送走N届毕业班，身为一名好老师却教不好自己的孩子，一说到对自己子女的教育问题，教师大多头疼不已。

3．找对象 男性教师找对象有些难，女性教师可能会被许多男性列为首选对象，因为在中国，不管是受传统文化还是现代教育的影响，教师对女性来说还是个不错的职业。相对来说，男性教师特别是小学男性教师谈恋爱找对象还是有些难，这也是造成男性教师逃离小学的一个原因。

4．工资收入 众多老师关心工资的问题，钱多了，生活有保障了，社会地位提高了，工作起来才会更有成就感。但他们问：教师的待遇与付出怎样才能持平？

5．社会保障 教师的医保等保障制度还没有全部建立起来，有的地方教师没有福利，没有医疗卡，没有住房公积金。住房 教师的住房情况在有些地方还很差，不如当地一般的居民。
